the illustrated nails 2014 no: 1 | The Captain's Deck

Hi,

How's your week going so far? I'm supposed to share this post the other day but the pictures took forever to upload and my eyes could not bare the heaviness of my eye lids anymore they gave up, and you guys know what happened next hihi ^__^V

So, this will be my very first nail art design for this year and officially my very first post for 2014 yay! I call it The Captain's Deck. I could not think of other nautical titles beside Sail away and this, So i went for it. This is also my second nautical nail art design but this time i decided to stick with the skittllete technique.

All aboard and ready to sail this tutorial with me? HAHA (that's kind of weird) Aye?!

 silver bullion beads
blue nail polish or acrylic paint
red nail polish or acrylic paint
 white nail polish
silver nail polish + silver glitter nail polish
 red nail polish
 detail brush
 dotting tool.

start by applying base coat to protect your natural nails.
once your base coat has dried, start painting them with our base colors.

- we will be painting our thumb, point and pinky fingers with the red nail polish.
silver for the middle finger and white for the ring finger.

we're going to put different designs only on two nails which are the following.

point finger: anchor
ring finger: white and blue nautical stripes + heart

the thumb and ring finger will just be plain red and
the middle finger will be shinning with silver glitters!!! :D

Let us do the point finger first ^______^

grab your top coat, dotting tool or a toothpick and your silver bullion beads.
apply a thin amount of top coat at the upper-middle part of your nails.
and slowly, create a circle with the bullion beads like the image above.

again, apply top coat and with the bullion beads, create a vertical line with the bullion beads.

\

now, let's' do the curve part of our anchor.
apply top coat in a curving position starting at the middle.
trace the top coat with the bullion beads stopping midway of our vertical body.

apply another layer of bullion beads under the curve.
do halfway of the curve only :)

to make the arrow-like part of the anchor, make to mirroring diagonal lines on the tip of the curve.

do the same on the other side :)
slightly press down the beads so they wont fall easily.
and you're ready to do the next nail!

now, let's do the nautical stripes! ^______^

take your stripping brush and blue nail polish,
and slowly draw your horizontal lines beginning on the top part of the nail to the bottom.

to make the heart, grab your dotting tool and dip it to your red nail polish.
 create two inverted teardrops.
make sure the tips touch, so it'll form a heart :D
-----

moving on to the last nail.

 middle finger ready?
after your silver frosted nail polish has dried. apply another coat to make the color more opaque.

( let's pretend that this is silver T_T)

grab and paint your favorite silver glitter polish on top of your silver frosted nails.
layer as many you want until you are happy with the intensity :)
i applied mine with 4 coats!

let everything dry completely and apply at least two coats of top coat to protect your nails from chippin'!
^______^
