TIPS: beware of toxins

The dangers of toxins and nail polish is a topic that’s come up in beauty news more and more recently. It’s a debate that changes all the time - sometimes we’re told there’s nothing to be worried about, other times we’re told that we should all be very afraid.

I don't know everything that there is to know on this subject, and the truth is, it's always changing as newer and better polish formulas are developed. But what I do know is that nail polishes and the nail polish industry have always dealt with toxins since the beginning, so it’s nothing really new. I think that because more and more people are starting to do their nails at home, they’re starting to realize that a lot of these nail polishes are toxic when they just weren't aware before. This wasn't as talked about in the 90s because people would go in, get their nails done, and leave; they weren’t messing around with big collections of nail polishes at home like they are today.

The truth is, if you’re doing anything with varnishes, it’s going to require certain chemicals. No matter what formula you use, you should always try to protect yourself as best you can. So if you're going to do your nails at home, I recommend that you wear a mask to protect your nose, face, and lungs from breathing in all of the toxins. Salon manicurists always wear these masks, so why not be cautious and wear them, too?
So that’s what I recommend; just wear a mask and do everything in moderation. Don’t paint your nails 24/7; just do them once every other day if you’re someone that has to do them frequently. And until we know more, just wearing a mask can help shield yourself from some of the toxins.

what exactly is your acne telling you?

Hi guys,

I've found another interesting post on my tumblr blog that i thought might be helpful ^_____^
credits to the owner! :))

1 & 2: Digestive System — Eat less processed or junk food, reduce the amount of fat in your diet, step up water intake and opt for cooling things like cucumbers.
3: Liver — Cut out the alcohol, greasy food and dairy. This is the zone where food allergies also show up first, so take a look at your ingredients. Besides all this, do 30 minutes of light exercise every day and get adequate sleep so your liver can rest.
4 & 5: Kidneys — Anything around the eyes (including dark circles) point to dehydration. Drink up!

HOW TO: fix broken nails ^_____^

I admit, this is one of the things that can bring me down and ruin my day. having a cracked nail can really make me shed a tear. ang hirap kaya mag pahaba ng kuko :'(   Though I'm using nail hardener, my nails are still prone to breaking when it's exposed to chemicals that can make the nails brittle like detergents. So, it is necessary to keep them moisturized by applying hand creams, hand lotion, stuffs like that to keep them in good condition. But, i guess we can't do that often because of work, chores and so many more. If ever this awful thing happen to you, I got the perfect remedy :) I got this idea from pinterest, then I tried it. And because it worked for me, I am also going to share this great idea to you guys :) are you ready?

28 New Polishes We Need In Our Lives, Right Now

Gray Gardens

In an about-face from the usual bright and cheery hues we see this time of year, subtly moody tones of gray are going to have a mini-moment this season. There was definitely an undercurrent of gothic romance at some spring shows, most notably Jason Wu. If super-dark charcoal seems like sacrilege to spring, pick a pretty dove gray or a silver polish with duo-chrome shimmer instead for a softer way to get in on the trend.

How's your first day of the week? Well, I did nothing all day but to sleep and watch detective Conan until 7 in the evening. My allergies kept on striking, I feel so lazy, because of the antihistamine that I am dosing, I wish they'd remove its drowsing effect so I won't feel so crazy lazy all day! What to put in your makeup bag

- school days are long and tiring, but we want to make sure our makeup lasts even longer! I made a list of some essential things to bring, but these are all just my opinion. Some may not apply to you, but this is just what I do! Here are my top 10 things you should bring to school beauty wise:
  • powder
  • lip balm
  • q tips
  • blotting sheets/ tissue
  • compact mirror
  • eyelash curler
  • hand sanitizer
  • lipstick/lip gloss
  • lotion
  • tinted moisturizer
If you’re not sure why these are essential to bring to school, keep reading!

1. Powder
Powder is used to eliminate shine and to mattify your face. You might need this after gym, or if you’re like me, you just get shiny throughout the day. Just take the puff that comes with it or a flat top brush to apply it. Some brand(s) I recommend: Maybelline shine free powder .

2. Chapstick
This one is pretty obvious. Lips can get really dry and flaky during the wintertime because of the harsh winds so I suggest bring lip balm everywhere, if you don’t already. We talk a lot during school, we eat, we drink water. Our lips are bound to get dry at one point. Don’t lick them! Instead apply chapstick (preferably one with SPF!). Some brand(s) I recommend are: Nivea, Babylips.

3. Q tips
These are important because they can fix ANYTHING. If your eyeliner smeared a bit under your eye, fix it by running this under some water and wiping it, or squeezing a bit of tinted moisturizer and covering it. If your lipstick rubbed a bit outside of your lips, just wipe it. If you mascara is clumpy, run the q tip on it a few times and you’re done. I’m sure there are many more ways to use this so it’s essential! If none of those apply to you, I’m sure you’ll find a way to use them. Really any brand works!

4. Blotting sheets/tissue paper
These help soak up any sweat that may have come from gym, or just because the school doesn’t know what AC is. There’s a difference between being oily and shiny. I get shiny, but when I use blotting sheets nothing happens. So only get these if you know for a fact your skin is oily. Check here. I suggest blotting first and applying powder second. Some brand(s) I recommend: Clean and Clear, Neutrogena.

5. Compact Mirror
These are smaller mirrors that are easy to carry around. In class, whenever my teacher doesn’t let me go to the bathroom, I just use this secretly. I just use this to see if I need to touch up on anything, so that I know if I need to stop by the bathroom after class!

TIPS: face

  1. Foods with omega-3 fatty acids. This includes salmon, flax seeds, and walnuts. Foods with omega-3 fatty acids have been known to give skin an almost instant glow. These foods can also help reduce inflammation, so any blemishes you do have won’t be quite so red. I love making grilled salmon for dinner. Adding flaxseed to a fresh fruit smoothie is another simple way to boost your omega-3s.

  2. Antioxidant filled foods. It’s no surprise that antioxidant foods are great for your health, but they also give your skin an extra dose of goodness too. Antioxidant rich foods like cherries, berries, green tea and spinach attack free radicals in your body that cause skin damage and breakouts. Eating a handful of berries or a spinach salad is a yummy way to add antioxidants into your daily food routine.

30 Things to Stop Doing to Yourself

  • Stop spending time with the wrong people. – Life is too short to spend time with people who suck the happiness out of you.
  • Stop running from your problems. – Face them head on.  No, it won’t be easy.
  • Stop lying to yourself. – You can lie to anyone else in the world, but you can’t lie to yourself.
  • Stop putting your own needs on the back burner. – The most painful thing is losing yourself in the process of loving someone too much, and forgetting that you are special too.
  • Stop trying to be someone you’re not. – One of the greatest challenges in life is being yourself in a world that’s trying to make you likeeveryone else.
  • Stop trying to hold onto the past. – You can’t start the next chapter of your life if you keep re-reading your last one.
  • Stop being scared to make a mistake. – Doing something and getting it wrong is at least ten times more productive than doing nothing.
  • Stop berating yourself for old mistakes. – We may love the wrong person and cry about the wrong things, but no matter how things go wrong, one thing is for sure, mistakes help us find the person and things that are right for us.
  • Stop trying to buy happiness. – Many of the things we desire are expensive.
  • Stop exclusively looking to others for happiness. – If you’re not happy with who you are on the inside, you won’t be happy in a long-term relationship with anyone else either.
  • Stop being idle. – Don’t think too much or you’ll create a problem that wasn’t even there in the first place.  Evaluate situations and take decisive action.  You cannot change what you refuse to confront.  Making progress involves risk.  Period!  You can’t make it to second base with your foot on first.
  • Stop thinking you’re not ready. – Nobody ever feels 100% ready when an opportunity arises.  Because most great opportunities in life force us to grow beyond our comfort zones, which means we won’t feel totally comfortable at first.
  • Stop getting involved in relationships for the wrong reasons. – Relationships must be chosen wisely.  It’s better to be alone than to be in bad company.  There’s no need to rush.  If something is meant to be, it will happen – in the right time, with the right person, and for the best reason. Fall in love when you’re ready, not when you’re lonely.
  • Stop rejecting new relationships just because old ones didn’t work. – In life you’ll realize that there is a purpose for everyone you meet.  Some will test you, some will use you and some will teach you.  But most importantly, some will bring out the best in you.
  • Stop trying to compete against everyone else. – Don’t worry about what others are doing better than you.  Concentrate on beating your own records every day.  Success is a battle between YOU and YOURSELF only.
